Styx

Styx
Styx @ Vic Theatre

Hometown hitmakers Styx return to the scene of the crime in a show that will likely be for many reminiscent of when they saw the band perform at their high school back in the day before multi-platinum stardom. Though touring without warbly voiced crooner Dennis DeYoung (he's probably hanging out at Liza's) and late drummer John Panozzo who actually passed some years ago the band still possesses a rare quality these days. The often overlooked ability to make an audience feel happy while rocking them at the same time. Syrupy ballads aside, these guys really can rock. Come sail away!

Asia

Asia
Asia 4.20 @ House of Blues

A rock blast from the past boasting a veritable vanguard of the genre (YES,ELP,KING CRIMSON) 80s supergroup and chart toppers Asia hit the HOB for a show billed as a 25th anniversary concert although they come packing their first new release in that long, the appropriately entitled Phoenix. With the original lineup in tact( including my own personal favorite axe man Steve Howe)Armed with more than their share of chops and the radio friendly hits in which to showcase them this tour has been garnering rave reviews around the globe.

Santana

Santana
Santana 04.19 @ Allstate Arena

Hey-this guy played at Woodstock, has been around forever, and has a butt load of Grammies, industry wide respect and nothing left to prove. He is obviously one of the chosen (or perhaps afflicted) few who quite simply have to play. Where ever and with whom ever. If you admire that level of dedication to the craft where the music always comes first and foremost do not miss this legendary performer.

Megadeth

Megadeth
Megadeth 05.06 @ Aragon Ballroom

Dave Mustaine brings his thrash metal quintet to town with 2007s United Abominations in tow and a trademark snarl to boot. The bands relentless attack and take no prisoners style of showmanship and music craft combined with Mustaines blistering fretwork will undoubtedly inspire more than a few malt beverages to be cracked along with some skulls.
