Finally a place that was named after us!!

Connoisseur is a welcome addition to the West Town area where upscale dining and atmosphere is needed. If you do blink however, it would be missed, bad for our hopes on this establishment’s longevity. The room is small seating maybe 50 and the décor is warmly painted with mustards and browns but kind of falls a little short on the connoisseur lifestyle. Upon our arrival, our waiter greeted us and was very knowledgeable but after we looked at the menu, how could you not be with such a limited selection. The wine and drink list were smartly chosen but rather barren, and we all know we like our variety!

The menu, which primarily consists of small, Cajun influenced plates, has some nice variety that is changed seasonally but will cost you a connoisseur coin! We ordered 4 plates which consisted of a crawfish maki roll, chili ceviche, a somewhat bland lobster gorgonzola dolce dip accompanied with grilled veggies, and our favorite…a Moorish Chicken with a nice touch of cinnamon and cumin spices. The chef was even nice enough to come out of the kitchen to speak with us which we both agreed was a nice touch. As the evening moved on, a few more people trickled in but for the restaurant to be at full capacity, it would definitely be very tight but still a great date place.

All in all, we liked our visit but Connoisseur missed our bon vivant palate and stifled our livers with limited selections. So before we close, as you know, Nikki and I must provide our washroom review as well (because every date must have a good can). That being said for a place that touts such superiority, their washroom looked faded and flat and was even missing a can, my favorite part!

Have a favorite restaurant you would like to be reviewed? Please send your suggestions to Corey and Nikki at info@buzznews.net!!! Your restaurant could be in our next issue!!!
