Caoba Gives Us Wood!!!!!
Now that we have your attention, not only was Caoba a tantalizing treat but it also means dark wood in Spanish! We must also mention that this is our first review that was officially requested by a fellow reader of the dynamic dining duo. This of course means that we are also proud to have our first official reader!!
Upon our arrival we were greeted by warm, rustic, adobe-esque décor, flat screens touting Spanish MTV2 telecasts, and our delightful waitress Amiela. She immediately took our drink order and left us to review the menu. While the menu gave us pint sized choices, it delivered dishes with prodigious taste!
For starters, we had Ceviche, priced right at 8.95 and a poncho salad with steak bits. The Ceviche was super tasty while the steak bits in the salad could have been swapped for a salt lick. That said, Ceviche 1, poncho salad 0.
Next came dinner where our table was presented with a charcoal-burning grill that cooked our food tableside. Our choice, the seafood grill that included langoustines, scallops, calamari, shrimp and a fish dujour that served the two of us nicely. There is also a carnivorous sketch that comes with baby back ribs, fajitas, skirt steak and chicken. Both dinners are $32.95 and $29.95 respectively. While we were tempted to go for dessert we had learned that one did not exist just yet; we decided this was an even better reason to come back! We also must mention that Caoba’s signature cocktails and the $12.00 pitcher of margaritas were not only quenching but also left us ordering a “few more”.
But before we close, Nikki and I must always bring you our washroom review as well (because every date must have a good can). That being said, Caoba gets only 1 out of 5 flushes. While it is certainly a serviceable throne, it left us with that not so fresh feeling.
All in all, great food and great drinks and we had a great experience. We just knock on wood that Caoba will work out a few of its kinks.
