I usually visit Las Vegas to do celebrity interviews for my show “The Greenroom” for www.Buzznews.TV twice a year. However, this summer we were too busy at Buzz to get out there and I was really jonesin’ for a little bit of Vegas in my life, if you know what I mean.
Well, I think I discovered the next best thing when I visited The Blue Chip Casino and Hotel/Spa to cover Rick Springfield’s 60th Birthday concert and after party.
I was scheduled for a massage in the beautifully appointed, brand new, Spa Blu, but was pulled over by police for driving too slow and pretty much missed my appointment, so I’ll save that part of my review for next month when I return to the Blue Chip to see my good friend Louie Anderson perform on September 12th.
I did have time before the concert to have a wonderful dinner at It’s Vegas Baby. I liked the décor and slideshow of old Vegas performers playing in background. I ordered the coconut shrimp appetizer, breaded in coconut and Japanese panko breadcrumbs with sweet coconut and spicy orange dipping sauces, it was delicious and the shrimp were large and plump.
The true test of a restaurant is it’s seafood; anyone can make a good burger, so I ordered the grilled nine-ounce lobster tail with lemon and drawn butter, and it was delicious. Simply prepared and presented with sautéed zucchini, the lobster tail was tender and meaty - very nice.

I was very impressed with the Stardust Event Center, perfect for concerts and theatre productions. The Stardust Event Center offers a sizeable 2,000 square-foot stage with a 46-foot proscenium in its ballroom, which can seat 1,200 people theatre-style while providing amazing acoustics. The ballroom is big, much bigger than it appears on the website but still manages to convey a homey, almost carnival-like atmosphere.
After the concert, from the VIP section reserved for Rick Springfield and his band,
I enjoyed a full four hours of real Vegas fun and dancing at It’s Vegas Baby, which converts to a nightclub after dinner hours end and is open ‘till 3 in the morning. Now this part of the Blue Chip’s set up was really close to creating a Vegas experience for me. The packed revelers at It’s Vegas Baby, partying the night away to a quality band while the gamblers from the hotel and casino stroll by on the promenade watching, really made me feel I was back in Vegas at one of the better hotel/ casinos.
I highly recommend The Blue Chip Casino and Stardust Event Center as a place to catch a show and spend a glorious weekend refreshing yourself in the lovely Spa Blu.
Next month I will give you a full rundown on the hotel’s luxury accommodations, casino floor and spa treatments!
Be sure to check out the Blue Chip Casino’s website at www.BlueChipCasino.com for upcoming shows you may want to attend and get a little Vegas in your life!
