Let’s get the record straight. In no way is the topless review “Crazy Girls” comparable to a Gentlemen’s Club. On the contrary, “Crazy Girls” is a classy show that focuses on the art of masterful, expressive dancing numbers united with the beauty of the untamed female body.

“Crazy Girls” gives you the feeling of being in an underground club in Paris where expression is free and liberating, but most of all, art. Starting with one of their first pieces to Aerosmith’s “Pink”, where four girls slowly spin around on a revolving wheel, “Crazy Girls” is entrancing almost to the point one forgets the girls are indeed topless. Of course, other routines won’t let you forget.

Surprising, from one who has never seen a topless review, was the creativity and sexiness implemented into each routine, mainly those of which just one or two dancers were featured. Also, to me, unexpected was the caliber of dancers in “Crazy Girls”. Never fear, every dancer is technically trained and truly talented in their own right, each showing off their specialties in their own unique routines. Each act was inventive and reeked of sensuality, but couldn’t have been so without the genuine dancing ability of each and every girl involved in the show.

“Crazy Girls” has just entered its 20th year at the Riviera Hotel and Casino, even though naysayers predicted the show wouldn’t last beyond its beginning 12-week run. Creator and producer Norbert Aleman explains that, “ During the early and mid-90’s ‘Crazy Girls’ was the only show of its type and now there are copies that keep closing.”

I attended the show with a female friend (a dance major herself) who thought she’d feel uncomfortable with the showcased nudity. However, ten minutes after the show began, she became one of the biggest applauders and supporters for the dancers. Why? Because the show is not offensive, but is a beautiful display of dance and art. Unlike a Gentlemen’s Club, more than 95% of the audience was either couples or groups of friends containing both men and women.

The great thing about “Crazy Girls” is that it is not just a topless review. It’s so much more than that. Disciplined dancers, sensuous settings, very imaginative routines, and captured aspects of each performer’s individuality make this one show to write home about – a true crowd pleaser.

About halfway into the show, world-class juggler Nino Frediani took the stage and was as instant hit with his astonishing feats but more so with his hilarious banter with the audience. What’s a Vegas show without variety? Nino included various crowd members in his juggling acts while at the same time making them the butts of his jokes…All in good fun as he induced hearty belly-laughs throughout the theater including the “buttees”.

After the show, the “Crazy Girls” were on hand to say hi to audience members and take photos.
