Magic Hat Brewing Company (#9)
The Magic Hat Brewing Company was kind enough to mail BUZZ some brews. So yes, I drank them all and wrote this article. I hope there are not too many drunken spelling mistakessessesss. Along with the beers, they also sent me some a few condoms (get it, Magic Hats!!). And if my wife were drinking the beers too, maybe I could have used those, but then I might not have finished this article.
In our traditional Nightspot fashion, below is my review of their new “#9 Flavored Not Quite Pale Ale”, and we will consider all the bars listed below as this month’s recommended Nightspots!
Appearance: Has a nice pour with no head with a light red color.
Taste: Has a light body taste but with a flavor. A good flavor that won’t get annoying after a few drinks. Reminded me a little of Killian’s Red but with a much smoother feel and fruity taste.
Drinkability: Very drinkable, it’s not too heavy. I had no problem finishing the 6-pack in a fun-filled evening.
Summary: B+ I found this beer to be different from the norm but you could tell that someone spent some real time creating the flavor. It’s absolutely worth a try, then make your own decision! Magic Hat Brewing Company is based over in South Burlington Vermont. For anyone interested in finding this new beer, it just started making its way to Chicago and can be found at any of the places below. Enjoy!

If you’re looking for a good old-fashioned Northwoods-type bar closer to home than Beloit, then The Landmark Inn is the place you want to be! Located on the corner of Foster and Oriole in Harwood Heights, the corner tap built in 1938 is alive and well, thanks to manager Uncle Ed and his nephew John. John purchased the establishment in January 2007, and remodeled the joint to draw locals back into the place. Mission accomplished! Friendly patrons abound here! This is the place where people know your name, the guy next to you will strike up a conversation, and a shot and a beer are the preferred order of the day.
