Happy Valentine’s Day?

Louie AndersonI used to love Valentine’s Day. I remember in grade school buying boxes of those cute little cards and candies that said “ I Love You” and “U R the 1” and excitedly giving them to everyone in my class, including the girls. I always got at least as many as I handed out and felt a little sorry for the kids who only got one or two...

Happy New Year!

Geoff Tate and Kim KatzWell, 2007 flew by and had lots of amazing developments for us here at Buzz, including our brand new partnership with NBC5.com’s “Chi Town After Dark”. The New Year always makes me wonder what the numbers mean so I looked it up and it turns out the number seven is the number of investigation...

SatellitesWhen Taylor Negron took the microphone after violinist Lili Haydn completed her first song, I wasn’t sure what to expect. Having never seen the actor/writer/comedian perform before, I was curious about the concept of his latest show, which I heard was dramatic/humorous storytelling coupled with the accompaniment of a soft jazz trio.

A Christmas Carol to Sing About

A Christmas CarolDisneyland might be able to pull off the the same schtick night after night but come on; what does a heartless old fool like Ebenezer Scrooge have on Mickey Mouse and some kick ass Fireworks? Celebrating it's 30th year at the Goodman Theatre you would think enough is enough already. This might ring true if the show was performed the same year after year but we can...

Merry Christmasukah and Happy Hanukahmas!

Taylor Negron and Kim KatzChristmasukah also brings out the best and worst memories for every dysfunctional family (is there any other kind?), so I have learned to rely on my good friends for comic relief during the holidays to keep the good times feeling good. And with funny new friends like Scott Thompson and Taylor Negron...

Kristin Schaal – “Funny Lady!”

Kristin SchaalAt The Lakeshore Theater

Our first hysterical glimpse of Kristin Schaal is projected from a live camera backstage as she wolfs down a giant ice cream cone and snarls to her partner that she must finish it before taking the stage.

Jay-Z Joined by Kanye West at House of Blues

Jay-Z in ConcertStill, while plugging his hip hop pal’s new release, Def Jam Record’s president Jay-Z let everyone in the sold-out House of Blues crowd know why he is still the undisputed “King of the Rap Scene” as he aggressively unleashed tracks from his brand new Gangster. With fury and top-notch showmanship, the 37-year-old Jay-Z...

Iglesias, Nothing New Under the Sun

Enrique IglesiasLast Sunday Dec 3rd at the Riviera Theater, Enrique Iglesias offered a concert under no CD promotion, and with just a little new material to offer to his fans. The Riviera was packed, mostly women of course, and being a Sunday it was not bad at all for the Spanish singer to have that many people at the Chicago venue...

The Rocky Horror Picture Show

Rocky Horror Picture ShowMy God, has it really been twenty years since the first time my friends and I dressed up in our best Goth and stumbled out at midnight to see what was surely the raciest, and most exciting, interactive movie of the time? Seeing director Steve Hildebrandt’s exciting and highly gifted, mostly Equity cast, brought back a flood of fun memories, and just in time for Halloween!

The Bobs PhotoTonight I got to hear The Bobs with current Bob lineup, Richard Bob Greene, Amy Bob Engelhardt, Matthew Bob Stull, and Dan Bob Schumacher at the Lakeshore Theatre. Let’s just say I thoroughly enjoyed myself. The Bobs have been “bobbing” along for 25 years with two of the original members still intact.
