A finalist for the 2025 Pulitzer Prize, The Ally, written by Itamar Moses (Completeness, Dead Outlaw), directed by Jeremy Wechsler (Prayer for the French Republic), will receive its Midwest Premiere at Chicago’s Theater Wit in March. Moses’ newest play is a darkly funny and deeply human new play that asks: just whose side are you on?

A student manifesto forces questions about identity and faith in The Ally

When Asaf’s student asks him to sign a petition condemning police brutality, he wants to do the right thing — until he realizes the manifesto turns out to be broader than he imagined, and every choice feels like betrayal. As the debate roars through his Midwestern campus and his ex-girlfriend takes the lead, Asaf is pulled into a political storm that tests his convictions and his sense of self. Will his fumbling entrée into activism help or hurt the cause? Who’s side is Asaf – and the audience – really on?

The Ally premiered off-Broadway at the Public Theater in February 2024. The New York Times called it “Important…Itamar Moses’ play offers eloquent arguments on all sides of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.” New York Stage Review wrote “The Ally will most certainly give you the tools to wage a cogent, forceful argument, no matter what side you’re on.”

"I recognized myself in Asaf the moment I read this play," said Jeremy Wechsler, Theater Wit Artistic Director and director of The Ally. " Before October 7th, I — like a lot of American Jews on the left — held two ideas at once: that Israel was a haven and that the occupation was wrong. Itamar Moses saw, honestly before I did, that those two ideas were becoming impossible to hold simultaneously. But there are always two ways to answer the question ‘What do I believe?': what do I think, and what do I feel? Where we land on that spectrum is a constant negotiation between ourselves and the world around us. What The Ally asks — what it really demands — is that we face that negotiation honestly. Can we be good people when our hearts and our heads aren't aligned?”

The cast for Theater Wit’s Midwest Premiere of The Ally features Sharyon Culberson as Nakia, Eliyah Arman Ghaeini as Farid, Mira Kessler as Rachel, DeVaughn Asante Loman as Baron, Evan Ozer as Reuven, Jordan Lane Shappell as Asaf, and K Chinthana Sotakoun as Gwen.

JAKE DIMAGGIO LOPEZ (Buckley Dunstan) is thrilled to make his return to the Drury Lane stage ! KYLE RINGLEY (Ben Banks, u/s Buckley Dunstan) is thrilled to be making his Drury Lane debut! JEANNIE AFFELDER (Mrs. Pulitzki, u/s Miss Bellamy & Tim's Gal) is thrilled to make her Drury Lane debut. She has been on stage at many Chicago-area theatres: Steppenwolf, Writers, TimeLine, First Folio, New Theatre Project, Eclipse, and Theatre at the Center, and she originated roles in The Good Times Are Killing Me (City Lit) and To Master the Art (TimeLine). Jeannie played the title role in the critically acclaimed production of Dear Elizabeth directed by Joann Green Breuer at the Martha's Vineyard Playhouse. She's been on Somebody Somewhere, Chicago Med, Chicago PD, and The Onion.

BRADEN CROTHERS (Pete, u/s Buzz Taylor & Red) is thrilled to return to Drury Lane, where he was previously seen as Louis in The King and I and Tiny Tim in A Christmas Carol. Regional credits include Scut Farkus in A Christmas Story (Marriott Theatre) and Peter Cratchit/Boy Scrooge in A Christmas Carol (Milwaukee Rep). A junior in high school, Braden has also appeared as Bruce in Matilda, Sky in Mamma Mia!, and most recently as Prince Eric in The Little Mermaid at his school. Television and film credits include Chicago P.D. (NBC) and Saint Francis (dir. Alex Thompson). 

MITCHELL J. FAIN (Joe, u/s Mr. Missoula) has been a working actor/director/storyteller in Chicago for 30+ years. He has previously worked at Timeline, Northlight; Marriott, Lookingglass; The Second City, Chicago Shakespeare, The Actor's Theatre of Louisville, LaJolla Playhouse, Theater Wit, The Midnight Circus; and many others. On camera he's appeared in over 75 commercials, had guest roles on "Chicago Med," "Fargo," "Patriot," "Chicago Fire," "Sirens," "Boss," and shares one-on-one scenes with Tom Hanks in Road To Perdition and George Clooney in Ocean's 12.  Ed is a 28-year ensemble member of American Blues Theater.

DEMITRI MAGAS (Red, u/s Ben Banks & Joe) is thrilled to return to Drury Lane! Demitri is a graduate from Millikin University's 2024 BFA Acting class and made his first Chicago theatre debut in 2023 as Robert in Jeff and Shelly (Theatre Wit). Last winter, Demitri worked as an understudy for Drury Lane's A Christmas Carol and is a member of The Conspirators (a Chicago neo-commedia dell'Arte troupe) and has appeared in Chicago Cop Macbeth, Ayn Rand's It's A Wonderful Life, and Commedia Divina: It's Worse Than That (Otherworld Theatre).

ABBY ROSE MERRILL (Tim's Gal, u/s Kay Banks & Peggy Swift) is thrilled to return to Drury Lane! Favorite regional credits include Grease at Drury Lane; Nunsense at The New Theater; and the Alice Bliss workshop at TheatreWorks Silicon Valley directed by Mark Brokaw. Abby has also appeared on Netflix's House of Cards and NBC's Chicago Med. She is a graduate of Stanford University and represented by Stewart Talent.

MICHELE VAZAQUEZ (Miss Bellamy, u/s Ellie Banks & Mrs. Pulitzki) is an actor, director, and teaching artist based in the Chicago area. She has appeared Off-Broadway at The Cherry Lane Theatre and The Pearl Theatre Company, and performed nationally with The Old Globe, Arena Stage, A.C.T., Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, Aquila Theatre, and Goodman Theatre, as well as internationally at the International Shakespeare Festival in Neuss, Germany. Her television credits include Emperor of Ocean Park, Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, and As the World Turns. Michele holds an MFA from The Old Globe/University of San Diego and a BFA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She's a proud member of Actors' Equity Association and SAG-AFTRA.

A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE is considered to be one of the great classics of the American theatre.  When Blanche DuBois, a troubled woman with a dark past, moves in with her sister Stella and her volatile husband Stanley, she learns that genteel pretensions are no match for the harsh realities symbolized by her brutish brother-in-law.  It is an emotionally charged drama that explores desire, delusion, and the harsh realities of human nature

The play won both the Pulitzer Prize for drama and the Tony Award for Best Play.  The movie version won the Golden Globe for Best Picture.  Vivian Leigh won the Best Actress award for her portrayal of Blanche, a role originated by Jessica Tandy on Broadway.

About MadKap Productions

MadKap is celebrating its 11th year at Skokie Theatre and is the recipient of the 2019 Artistic Excellence award from the Village of Skokie Fine Arts Commission.  Wendy Kaplan and Wayne Mell formed MadKap Productions in 2011 and have premiered ground-breaking new plays like Clutter: The True Story of the Collier Brothers Who Never Threw Anything Out and Mr. Shaw Goes To Hollywood,  and Side Effects May Include, the semi-autobiographical account of Seinfeld writer Marc Jaffe's experiences with Parkinson's Disease which toured nationally, raising funds for Shaking With Laughter and The Michael J. About Skokie Theatre

The Skokie Theatre was originally built in 1912 and served as the local movie theatre for the people who lived in the Skokie area.  The building fell into disrepair, until 2006 when the Skokie Valley Music Foundation spent over 1.2 million dollars to refurbish it and create a music hall that is unlike any other in the area.  Its 140 comfortable seats, perfect acoustics, and elegant art deco architecture makes it a Skokie landmark.  MadKap Productions took over management of the building in February, 2014 with the goal of establishing a full-time performing arts center.  When not presenting plays, audiences can experience cabaret and concerts, dance, and comedy acts.

The Joffrey Ballet has completed a major refresh of its Chicago-based home, The Joffrey Tower (10 E. Randolph Street), featuring interiors by Rubiostudio, and vivid environmental graphics by acclaimed artist & designer Bob Faust, renowned for crafting work with typography at its core, and showcasing visually-stunning examples of Concrete Poetry, courtesy of the national Poetry Foundation, also based in Chicago.  Together, this interdisciplinary collaboration of art, design, architecture, dance, and poetry aims to re-imagine Joffrey Tower as both a home for ballet and a living work of art; creating an environment as inspiring and dynamic as the Company itself.

Under the direction of Joffrey President and CEO Greg Cameron, Joffrey leadership began re-thinking the environment of The Joffrey Tower post-COVID, aiming to create an integrated campus within the Tower’s four floors to strengthen engagement between the Company Artists, its Grainger Academy of The Joffrey Ballet students, Community Engagement students, and administrative personnel. Key elements of the resulting $2.5 million restoration, funded by generous Joffrey supporters, include the creation of an industry-leading Health and Wellness center and the installation of new Harlequin Wood Sprung Floors. The project also expanded the Tower’s Anne L. Kaplan Costume Shop, the Grainger Academy lobby, and administrative facilities, adding meeting rooms and workspaces.

“To support their work on stage, it is of the utmost importance that our Company Artists and students are taken care of off stage, so we sought for Joffrey Tower’s surroundings to be mindful of both the artists’ physical and mental wellbeing.  A great deal of attention was paid to providing leading-edge fitness equipment and spa facilities in our expansive new Health and Wellness Center, along with offering a variety of comfortable and vibrant spaces for our artists to both individually renew and to congregate for camaraderie,” offered Cameron.

To carry out this first renovation since the Tower opened in 2008, the Company enlisted architect (and Joffrey Board Director) Elva Rubio and Corporate Concepts Inc. to facilitate the interior architecture. Rubio, founder of Chicago-based Rubiostudio, has over 30 years of experience in various practice fields, including urban design, interior design, design education, communications design strategy, and the built environment. 

“My firm clearly understood the assignment put forth by the Joffrey Board: to design a practical and functional floor plan that brings the administrative and artistic functions together, enabling a great exchange of energy and ideas. Given my 20 years as a supporter of the Joffrey, it has been an honor to help deliver a space that serves all the Company’s needs, and I’d like to think our design has created a ‘wonderful chaos’ of interactivity,” said Rubio.

Upon completion of the structural foundation, and with over 6,000 sq. ft. of wall space as his canvas, Faust then dramatically embellished walls throughout Joffrey Tower with his signature “Wallworks,” larger-than-life kaleidoscopically re-mixed photographs. Seeking to interpret themes of movement, the origin photos – now remixed in sizes up to 50 x 400 feet – ranged in subject from Joffrey rehearsal and performance shots to behind-the-scenes costumes and scenic props.

“Working closely with Elva and her team, the ‘Wallworks’ installation for the Joffrey is unique in that she made the decision early on to design the space, knowing there would be art activations throughout. Many of the usual design details were omitted in exchange for clean white space. I sourced imagery, not usually celebrated but no less critical to performance making, for its details, colors, and textures to create ever-evolving and ‘moving’ patterns across these key walls. Visitors will encounter fragments of costumes, props, backstage mechanicals, and even former advertising remixed into contemporary patterns to bring a definable visual identity to Joffrey Tower,” added Faust.

And, in furthering the Joffrey’s commitment to Chicago artists and culture, Faust’s colorful wall installations are accompanied by inspirational lines of poetry, designed as site-specific Concrete Poems, works that are as much a piece of visual art as they are poems.  Curated as part of a new collaboration between the Joffrey and the Chicago-based Poetry Foundation, incorporated into the environment are excerpts of work by six local poets: Alfonso Carrara, Tarfia Faizullah, Angela Jackson, José Olivarez, Anne Stevenson, and the former (and inaugural) Poet Laureate of Chicago avery r. young.  

The Joffrey Ballet concludes its 2025-2026 70^th Anniversary Season with the highly anticipated Chicago Premiere of Yuri Possokhov’s Eugene Onegin, a richly layered and deeply human exploration of love, loss, and redemption inspired by Alexander Pushkin’s poetic novel. From the acclaimed creative team behind Anna Karenina, Eugene Onegin—a co-production with San Francisco Ballet—features an original score by the award-winning composer, performer, and conductor Ilya Demutsky and an immersive set design that plunges audiences into the fragility of the human heart. Eugene Onegin is presented for ten performances only at the historic Lyric Opera House, 20 North Upper Wacker Drive in downtown Chicago, from June 4 to 14, 2026.

Artist Bios

Matt Walsh is a two-time Emmy-nominated actor from HBO's award-winning comedy series Veep, and cast member of Apple TV's acclaimed limited series Manhunt. He is also a founding member of the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater. Walsh will next be seen in Paramount Pictures' Novocaine starring Jack Quaid, Maybe We Should starring Heather Graham, Little Lorraine starring Stephen Amell, and Utopia's Not An Artist where he co-stars opposite Rza from the Wu Tang Clan. Recently, he appeared in Hulu's Unplugging, which he co-wrote, and starred alongside Eva Longoria. He can also be seen in The Good Half starring Nick Jonas. Walsh has appeared in memorable roles in several popular comedy films including Life of the Party, Old School, Starsky and Hutch, Ted, and Keeping Up With The Joneses. Other credits include the CBS series Ghosts, Fox Searchlight's Flamin' Hot, and the recent Father of the Bride film.

Walsh currently does a podcast Second in Command with his Veep co-star Timothy Simons.

In addition to his film and TV work, Walsh is also a charitable founder of Open Book with his wife Morgan. The charity donates LGBTQ affirming books to public elementary schools around the country. Matt resides in Los Angeles with his wife Morgan Walsh and their three children.

Joe Canale has been improvising around the world for the past 30 years, including stints at Boom Chicago in Amsterdam and The Second City Mainstage in Chicago amongst many others. TV appearances include The Mindy Project and Fair Game with Brock Everett. His greatest pleasure is derived from performing live improv for an audience.

Marc Evan Jackson is best known for his roles as Kevin on Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Shawn on The Good Place, attorney Trevor Nelsson on Parks & Recreation, and Mary Anne's dad Richard Spier on The Baby-Sitters Club. You may also recognize his voice from Podcasts such as The Good Place: The Podcast, or as Sparks Nevada in The Thrilling Adventure Hour. Marc moved from the Second City to Los Angeles in 2001, where he taught improv at Second City Hollywood and in 2003 formed a long-form improv group of other Second City alumni called The 313, an homage to Detroit. Marc is also the co-founder of The Detroit Creativity Project, a nonprofit that teaches the life-changing skill of improv in Detroit middle and high schools free of charge.

Brad Morris is a veteran TV and film writer, producer, actor, director and improviser. An alum of four of Chicago's Second City's Mainstage revues, the iO Theatre and The Annoyance, Brad is a member of the renowned long form improvisational groups, The Reckoning and Uncle's Brother with Tim Meadows. Brad has improvised around the world with the Second City National Touring company and Matt Walsh and Friends for the USO. As a TV writer, Brad spent three seasons as a producer on the TBS comedy Cougar Town, was a producer on the Showtime series Dice, and was co-ep and head writer for seasons 1 and 2 of the critically acclaimed series for Paramount and Seeso, Bajillion Dollar Properties. Brad has sold original scripts and development to ABC, TBS, Sony and Warner Brothers. On the film side, Brad co-wrote and produced the independent film Unplugging, starring Matt Walsh and Eva Longoria. He is also producing the independent film Stoners and Saints, starring Dylan Gelula and Matt Berry. Brad also recently co-wrote Family Squares, and a movie for Paramount, Rear Naked Choke, produced by Margot Robbie.

As an actor, Brad has starred as a series regular in several network and cable pilots, and has appeared on Curb Your Enthusiasm, Veep, Modern Family, The Office, The League, Key and Peele, Great News, Playing House, Dice, F is For Family, Friends From College and The Good Place. He has appeared in the films Search Party, Sing, A Futile and Stupid Gesture, and Jay Roach's Bombshell. Brad can also be heard on his new improvisational podcast, Business Trips, that he co-hosts with Mike O'Brien.

The multi-year partnership between Teatro Vista Productions and Steppenwolf brings two of Chicago’s most vital ensemble theaters together to present ambitious productions to Chicago audiences. Teatro Vista Productions is set to stage a full-length run of a play each season over the next three years in Steppenwolf’s 1700 Theater, in an exciting collaboration reflecting the unique artistic ambitions of both companies. Xochi is dealing with a lot: a difficult pregnancy, a new relationship, a family that can't stand her and the loss of her twin brother Sebastian, who was declared missing last year. As she tries to navigate her life (and keep her sanity), the impossible happens: Sebastian reappears. Her family is overjoyed, but Xochi is suspicious: where has he been? And why does this version of Sebastian seem so different than the one she knew? BOTH is an eerie examination of family, love, memory, and which version of the truth is the one worth believing.

Paloma Nozicka (Playwright) is an actor, writer and filmmaker based in Los Angeles. Playwriting credits include Enough to Let the Light In (2023 Jeff Awards nominee for Best New Work) and BOTH (2025 O'Neill National Playwrights Conference finalist). Screenwriting credits include Enough to Let the Light In (feature), Horns (feature), Each Lovely Thing (short), HUGE (short). Directing credits include Each Lovely Thing (official selection at the Austin Film Festival, Cleveland International; “Best Screenplay” at the New Filmmakers LA “Best of 2024” awards). She was a member of the 2023/2024 Geffen Playhouse Writer’s Room. Northlight Theatre, under the direction of Artistic Director BJ Jones and Executive Director Timothy J. Evans, proudly announces its inaugural season in the company's new home at 1012 Church Street in Downtown Evanston. With its own venue built from the ground up, Northlight will open its doors with a celebratory gala planned for August 15, 2026, and the first public performance on September 9, 2026.  Northlight will welcome subscribers, supporters and the public in advance with opportunities to explore and celebrate the new venue.

The five-play 2026-2027 season, including three world premieres, opens with Jeffrey Hatcher's The Front Page, a world premiere adaptation of the rapid-fire classic comedy that also inspired the 1940 film His Girl Friday. The season continues with the world premiere of Lauren M. Gunderson's new love story All the World, followed by The American Five by Chess Jakobs, about the planning of the March on Washington and the speech that inspired Americans to act toward their shared vision of equality and justice for all. Northlight will then present the 2024 Pulitzer Prize Finalist Here There Are Blueberries by Moisés Kaufman and Amanda Gronich. The season concludes with the world premiere of Art Manke's Pearl's in the House about the life and music of trail-blazer Pearl Bailey.

The international section of the festival opens with this beloved multi-award winning show from Peru. A father and his two sons live alone in a house without women.The most routine of tasks such as preparing breakfast, bathing

or housework turns into real adventures when tackled by three inexperienced men and their fear of now knowing what they are doing. The journey that the elder brother needs to make in order to leave home, and the fear of saying goodbye to the ones we love, will be the starting point of our story.

The June 3 performance of Los Regalos/The Gifts will be followed by a meet and greet and talk back with the artists and a Peruvian reception sponsored by Tanta Chicago and the Consulate General of Peru in Chicago.

Beau and Aero by A Little Bit OFF (Seattle, USA)

Multi-award winning Beau and Aero ask the question, “What if the Wright brothers went wrong?” Beau and Aero is an acrobatic, slapstick, latex-heavy comedy featuring two incompetent aviators on their quest for flight. Pompous pilot Beau and his clueless co-pilot Aero have crash landed. The unlikely aeronautic duo tries everything to get back into the air - from propellers and parachutes, to balloons of all sizes, but to no avail. Distracted by their own imaginations, and the notably unhelpful contents of their emergency supply crate, the two tumble through hijinks and comedic conundrums, before emerging out the other side. The show blends clown with elements of acrobatics, mime, and puppetry, with wordless humor that will tickle audiences of all ages and languages. A strong vintage aesthetic paired with the duo’s ridiculous antics onstage is a nostalgic nod to timeless classics of old American Vaudeville. It’s like Charlie Chaplin meets Amelia Earhart.

SELL ME: I am from North Korea by Sora Baek (South Korea/USA)

A sold-out hit at the 2024 Edinburgh Festival Fringe and performed in the United States. Capitol Center, this powerful, fast-paced solo piece is inspired by the true stories of courageous North Korean women defectors. On her fifteenth birthday, Jisun, a North Korean girl, decides to sell herself to an old man to buy medicine for her dying mother. After risking her life crossing into China, she learns her body is considered worthless. Will she survive in a merciless foreign land where her very existence is illegal?

Apocalipsync by Luciano Rosso (Argentina/France)

The Argentine actor from Un Poyo Rojo (Physical Theater Festival 2025), takes audiences on an extravagant journey with his one-man show Apocalipsync. Born during the spring 2020 pandemic, this show offers a reflection on isolation, creativity and a cartoon-like view of our contemporary world. Luciano Rosso brilliantly embodies around forty eccentric and witty characters who accompany him on an endless journey within the solitude of his apartment. On stage, he uses his elastic body to showcase his many talents: dance, clowning, contortion and especially lip sync. It is an exhilarating and hilarious performance about the many inventive ways we find to escape boredom.

Jetlag is, above all, an emotional journey—one that is constantly out of step.

Moving between airports, from crowded transit zones to the confined cabin of an airplane, a man struggles to keep his loneliness at bay. Caught between exhilaration and confusion as he travels from one place to the next, space and time begin to blur, and he dreams of a new beginning. Yet as he moves forward in his quest, he comes to realize that things may not unfold as he had hoped.

ABOUT ALICE DA CUNHA, CO-FOUNDER and ARTISTIC DIRECTOR

Alice de Cunha is a Chicago-based Brazilian and Portuguese actress, director and producer. She co-directed with Sandra Marquez the multi-award winning Teatro Vista show The Dream King. Acting credits include Steppenwolf Theatre, Remy Bumppo, Theater 503, as well as House Theater for which she received a Jeff Award for Best Ensemble for United Flight 232.

She is the artistic director and co-founder of Chicago’s Physical Theater Festival, an annual festival committed to present in our city international acts that represent the future of what theater can be and do. She has extensive experience in the international theater festival sector and has worked, among other festivals at CASA (UK), Shortcutz London, TODOS (Portugal) and the Chicago Latino Film Festival. De Cunha is an artistic consultant to Theater Unspeakable and an adjunct professor at Loyola University.

ABOUT MARC FROST, CO-FOUNDER and EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Marc Frost is an actor, deviser, educator and Chicago native who has performed and produced work in Brazil, Ireland, Spain, the United States and the United Kingdom. He created Theater Unspeakable as a platform for original works of devised, physical theater. Based in Chicago, the award-winning company has toured nationally, performing at venues including Lincoln Center Education (NY) and Kennedy Center (DC). He currently teaches at Roosevelt University. Idle Muse celebrates 20 years of productions with The Three Musketeers. Based on Alexander Dumas's celebrated 1844 novel, the Jeff Award-winning Robert Kauzlaric adapts the French tale of swashbuckling intrigue, adventure and fellowship as newly-minted musketeer D'Artagnan and the famous "three inseparables," Athos, Porthos and Aramis take on the machinations of a scheming cardinal and his minions.

ABOUT ROBERT KAUZLARIC, PLAYWRIGHT 

Robert Kauzlaric is a Chicago-based playwright, actor and director. He has written more than a dozen theatrical adaptations which have been performed in nearly forty of the United States, as well as in England, Ireland and Canada. His adaptations include The Island of Dr. Moreau (Non-Equity Joseph Jefferson Awards: Best Production-Play and New Adaptation), The Picture of Dorian Gray (Non-Equity Jeff Nomination: New Adaptation), Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere (Non-Equity Jeff Award: New Adaptation), The Three Musketeers (commissioned for the Illinois Shakespeare Festival), Wilkie Collins's The Moonstone and The Woman in White, and a musical version of Jane Austen's Northanger Abbey. For children, Kauzlaric has written musical adaptations of Jon Scieszka and Lane Smith's The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs! (called "one of the best children's shows of the year" by The New York Times), Peter Brown's Flight of the Dodo, Mo Willems' Naked Mole Rat Gets Dressed and Richard and Florence Atwater's Mr. Popper's Penguins, as well as a fanciful twist on Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, called Lions in Illyria.

ABOUT EVAN JACKSON, DIRECTOR

Evan Jackson serves as the artistic director of Idle Muse Theatre Company, a position he has had the honor of holding since the company's inception. He has directed 16 previous productions for Idle Muse Theatre Company, including last season's Jeff-nominated Richard Brinsley Sheridan's The School for Scandal as well as the Jeff-recommended What the Weird Sisters Saw and Jeff-nominated The Last Queen of Camelot. At Idle Muse he also directed Upon this Shore: A Tale of Pericles and the Daughters of Tyre, Best for Winter, being a short Shakespeare adapted from the Winter's Tale and other works, Equivocation, as well as The Lion in Winter and Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure (both Jeff-Recommended). Other favorite Idle Muse productions include The Hound of the Baskervilles, The Talking Cure, Rites and Sacrifices, a world premiere by Chicago playwright Jennifer L. Mickelson, Enchanted April, and The Scullery Maid. He was also director and co-adapter of the original Shotgun Shakespeare: What the Weird Sisters Saw with Idle Muse company member Tristan Brandon. Outside directing projects include several short plays in the Martin de Maat New Works Festival at Boxer Rebellion Theatre and two summers serving as assistant director for Shakespeare on the Green in Lake Forest. Jackson is a graduate of The Theatre School at DePaul University, where he received his MFA in directing.

ABOUT IDLE MUSE THEATRE COMPANY 

Idle Muse Theatre Company's mission is to produce theatre that is transporting,  timely and true. The company was established in 2006 by theatre artists interested in exploring the relationship between individuals and the worlds they inhabit. Seeking to create production opportunities, they established a modern 'guild' of players and environment where theatre artists of different experiences and backgrounds could develop their craft. Idle Muse Theatre Company launches its 20th anniversary season with The Three Musketeers, March 26 - April 25, written by Robert Kauzlaric, directed by Idle Muse Artistic Director Evan Jackson and adapted from the novel by Alexandre Dumas at The Edge Off-Broadway Theater, 1133 W Catalpa Ave. Previews are Thursday, March 26 and Friday, March 27 at 8 p.m. with the press opening Saturday, March 28 at 8 p.m. The performance schedule is Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m., with an added Wednesday performance on April 22 at 8 p.m. General admission tickets are now on sale for $30 and $20 for seniors and students with $50 "pay it forward" tickets that assist in subsidizing tickets for those who may not be able to access the production otherwise.
